UK Cloud Magnets are awesome!
Astronomy is a challenging hobby, there’s no doubt about it, and especially for the beginner!
There are so many questions and unknowns when it comes to kit, the capturing process, the editing… there’s so much to learn, and it can be a daunting prospect.
Being fairly new to the hobby (like many of us newcomers with ‘thumbs to twiddle’ during the first Covid lockdown!) I only wish I’d found this group sooner.
It’s not only the knowledge and breadth of expertise at all levels in the group but also the positivity, willingness to help and fun that makes UK Cloud Magnets really something special.
Everyone helps each other along their astro journey regardless of experience, and we celebrate those successes together.
It’s not something I’ve ever seen anywhere else in my short tenure with the astro community, it’s honestly brilliant.
From first time equipment advice to, like me last night, sitting outside holding a hairdryer to my filter wheel (don’t ask!) there’s always someone from the group to engage with… and, as we’re all UK based, a certain amount of comradery over our unpredictable weather, our friend the jet stream and ensuring any purchase at least has some red in it, (group joke) ha ha
A big shout out to Mick Scott who runs UK Cloud Magnets, honestly, you do such an amazing job, thank you, and keep it up.
